As a side bar I can't get the same movie to play correctly on the plex computer input. Plex app, 4k UHD (lord of the rings trilogy) plays fine no Atmos. So far my best quality streaming experience is via the fire stick.ĭisney+ 4k UHD and Atmos on alot of contentĪmazon prime app. The denon also has a firetv 4k stick as input 1 Plex computer on input 2 I am not running plex server on the synology currently. Plex server is running on its own i7 computer with nothing else on it, (had to download the Dolby Atmos drivers)Īll media content lives on a synology 920+ NAS. And Plex support keeps trying to tell me to go to an nvidia shield. And I have been trying for months to get them to actually play in Atmos and no matter what I've tried. Now Plex for me is a completely different disaster.ĭownloaded a bunch of Atmos trailers right from the dolby site. Now if only Prime supported Atmos.Īmazon prime video, atmos works for me on certain stuff, check out the Jack Ryan series I can confirm, season 2 - uhd/4k does play in Atmos. Now when I play Atmos encoded movies it shows as Dolby Atmos on the receiver. That and the passthrough settings on the Plex server resolved my last issue. For this, you need to go to the receiver device in Windows and set it to Exclusive mode.

Still, couldn't get Plex movies to play in Atmos though. If not, I could switch to Dolby Surround and DTS:Neural X but those options are always available regardless of the source so not a good indicator things are working as they should. It's easy to tell if it's working because on my receiver it automatically switches to Dolby Atmos and displays as such. If I played Bright or Altered Carbon, Atmos came through to the receiver. Turns out one of the Attenborough docs that is labelled as Atmos didn't' have the right channels. Before the fix above the Netflix app wasn't producing sound. Next, was trying to get Netflix app working in Atmos. If I set the device to 5.1 I was able to play the test tone through all speakers correctly but I always use the Dolby HT now. I could now configure my sound setting to Dolby Home Theatre. This needs to be turned off! During this period I did wind up paying for both the Dolby Access and DTS apps. Turns out there is a setting on the Onkyo buried under Audio Select is an option for PCM Fixed mode. At first, I had issues with getting anything beyond Stereo working through the Advanced Windows sound configuration.

I even updated my PC and receiver during that period. So, I've literally been trying to resolve this issue for over a year.
